The “original” SeaEra has an integral intake pump so all connections are at the toilet. The SeaEra with integral pump has some design features that separate it from the competition. Our design separates the intake water from the discharge water by the full length of the motor. This ensures no possibility of cross contamination. Similar competitive units have the intake and discharge only separated by a seal which means a seal failure allows waste water back into the bowl. Another feature is the full size joker valve which provides better performance and substantially reduces the probability of clogs. A holding tank should never be discharged overboard.The Purasan EX is a flow through system which means that the toilet is connected to the tank and the tank is connected to the thru-hull. With each flush of the toilet the waste enters the tank where a small amount of disinfectant is introduced to neutralize the waste. At the same time an equal amount of treated waste is forced out of the tank and overboard.Purasan ImprovementsThe tablets used are very similar to the mixture used in commercial waste water treatment plants. When the toilet flushes a small amount of water is run over the tablets to create a disinfectant that drains into the tank and a high-speed macerator inside the tank breaks down waste and ensures that the disinfectant comes in contact with the waste.  This system does require the user to buy tablets to keep the system functioning properly. While the original Purasan remained largely unchanged for a long time the newest version the Purasan EX has added a control that will notify the user when tablets need to be added.Another improvement in the Purasan EX over the original design is the addition of an air pump that forces the water down into the treatment tank. This makes mounting of the system easier and prevents the tablets from disintegrating too fast.
